If your domain name (website address) is registered by DMS, then there no action needed.  We will take care of it from A to Z.

If your domain name is previously registered with other vendor such as Godaddy.com or Network Solution or Register.net, etc, then you have three options:

Option 1 – keep all existing settings including email setup and services.  To do this, you need to login to your Registrar Account that has been given to you by Registrar vendor that you bought the domain name from such as Godaddy.com.    If you don’t know who has control of this account, you can go to www.godaddy.com and try to register for that domain name.   You will be informed by the Registrar (in this case Godaddy.com) that such domain name has been registered or has been taken.  It then gives you an option to find out who owns it.  Follow a couple of steps and you will see the admin information.  Sometime this information is protected by private registration preferences but 98% of the time; it’s public info.  Once you have the admin login ID and Password, you can either send it to us or you can do it yourself by changing the A Record to our IP address: 217.160.254.88 .  What this does is that it now points your website to our server and keeps your email settings and email activities un-interrupted.

Option 2 - change  your existing DNS to our DNS (domain name server) as follow:
Main Name Server:   ns57.1and1.com
Secondary Name Server:  ns58.1and1.com

With this, DMS will host both of your website and your pop3 email account(s) if there is any.  There may be some disruption to your E-mail activities during the first 24 hours propagation period.  If you changed the DNS, then you don’t need to change the A Record at your end.

Option 3 – change your existing Registrar to DMS’s.  We typically don’t recommend this option unless you have hundreds of domains that your Registrar charged you an over rated fee of $30 per year per domain.  There are plenty of them out there.  Else, keep your Registrar because each time you change this, it could take up to 14 days to complete and there are all kinds of paper work requirements for proof of ownership.  It can only disrupt your E-mail activities.

PLEASE INFORM US OF YOUR OPTION SO THAT WE CAN ASSIST YOU AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
